Dinner Of Dames...

Dinner has usually been in the hands of my mother. Tonight was much more different. Catering to her title as "Baketress" my sister Lili decided to take over dinner. For fear that she would burn down the house, my mother made a back-up dish. My sister Ella and I created a delightful salad. A Delightful Dacquoise...

From lemon to espresso, dacquoise are certainly on the list fanciest desserts-- not to mention some of the most challenging. For those of you who don't know what a dacquoise is, it is "a cake made with layers of nut meringue and whipped cream or buttercream." And that is what I am making today.      Today's recipe comes from here , but mine isn't exactly like that one, it's more of a spin on the recipe (including most of the same ingredients).    My dacquoise is being placed in a pan for serving, instead of standing alone like a traditional cake. Also, I am topping it with chocolate chips and chopped almonds. In addition, I put coffee inside the buttercream.    I must say, as a beginner, I am quite satisfied with the outcome. I am bringing this dacquoise to my table at a ladies tea at my church tonight. I can hardly wait!
